samhain

i wonder what happened to all those above-ground cemeteries in new orleans when it flooded after the hurricane. they were one of my favorite things about that city when i lived there. i'm not sure why. maybe it's because i was raised in a funeral home.

i went out for breakfast to a restaurant this morning. the usual waitress was there, dressed as a witch for halloween. she's an asian woman, her costume was all black and she wore a wig of long, silvery-white hair. i complimented her, told her it looked good and she should wear it more often.

"thanks," she said, "but it's so hot."

grandma chris

my last surviving grandmother died yesterday.

she was a cool person. she was my dad's mom. my mom's mom died a few years ago. so now, no more surviving grandparents. oh well, at least i'm still surviving.

grandma chris, that's what i called her, was one of my first role models. she was a good one. i have so many wonderful memories of life with her that if i listed them all here, we'd be here a long, long while.

unsubscribed

this blog is no longer subscribable. google's subscription service or whatever it's called is just too complicated for my itching, swelling brain.

maybe some other time..

meanwhile, i was almost killed by my chessboard.

more details later.
