copper collagen

i posted this in oitribe, my oi'er group. it seems every oi'er has a newsgroup these days. . . newcomers welcome. (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/oitribe)

for a very long time, i've been greatly attracted to copper for earrings, bracelets, anklets, necklaces and many other things. for a while i thought it was just a style thing.

it was almost like a chemical "attraction" to the copper. i began to crave it, sort of like a favorite food. then i learned of the connection between copper and collagen. maybe the copper helps "soothe my craving for collagen."

copper stimulates and increases the production of collagen.

copper is an ingredient in some skin care products. skin is much healthier with lots of collagen, it seems.
lack of collagen in bones is closely interrelated with osteogenesis imperfecta.

as a child i saw my grandfather (non oi) wear a copper bracelet for arthritis relief. i suppose that's one reason why i made this connection later in life. so i wasn't surprised when years later, the pain in my wrist, as a result of oi, indeed was lessened by wearing a solid copper chain bracelet.

i've always wondered why there isn't more research in this area, related to osteogenesis imperfecta. anyone else?

here (complete urL below) is a link to more information about copper, collagen and bone, plus lots more stuff.
