shaboom

the past month has been a decent january indeed it seems, for some reason. the chinatown year of the rat is quickly approaching. the weather has been a bit chilly and rainy, which reminds me of seattle, my favorite city. not because of rats, its the precipitation. except for the really cold rain, which is why i eventually fled the city for a warmer climate. but i miss the almost daily rainy weather of seattle.

this past month, luckily, and enjoyably, it's been rainy like seattle (sort of). and at times it even seems cold, but nothing like the bone-chilling cold that seattle can be at times.

yesterday a part in my coffee pot broke. it was the press part of a french press coffee maker. so i took the bus to the mall on a hunt to find a replacement part. hunting is exciting for me, it always has been since my childhood days when i went on fishing and hunting trips, mostly with dad. nobody had a replacement part per se, but luckily i found another, inexpensive pot made by the same maker (bodum) that had the same part, so i just bought that coffee maker and cannibalized the part i needed. it's much less trouble and cost and time spent than it would have been ordering the exact part over the internet and paying extravagant shipping charges, and waiting eternities for it to arrive by boat, or air or whatever, which would have cost more than i paid for the entire new pot.

the hunt was a success. and it was fun just going and doing it, considering the rainy temperant conditions. i've lived here long enough by now to know my way around. so getting from place to place by bus, or whatever method of transport, becomes an adventure instead of a major undertaking. and i can truly say, since i drove an automobile for over ten years, that it is much more pleasing to me to be able to take public transport instead of hassling with the personal automobile petro-culture.

life is such a dream, shaboom shaboom.
